RAMTECOhio to host Manufacturing Day Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015

RAMTEC Ohio will host Manufacturing Day 2015, Wednesday, September 30th from 9am to 4pm. The day will kick off with a re-dedication of the RAMTEC training center at 8am in the Educational Legacy Room, on the Tri-Rivers Career Center Campus, 2222 Marion-Mt. Gilead Road, Marion, OH. The event, sponsored by the PRIME (Partnership Response In Manufacturing Education), Honda and Yaskawa Motoman Robotics, is open to the public.

“We are encouraging area high school students, college students, adults and regional manufacturing technicians to attend our inaugural event,” said Ritch Ramey, coordinator for RAMTEC Ohio. “We plan to make this an annual event. Our goal is to draw attention to the outstanding opportunities that a career in manufacturing can provide. Read more

Summer RAMTEC Vex Robotics Camp Participants. The Future Workforce of Ohio!

More than 120 7th -12th  grade students invaded the Tri-Rivers Career Center’s Robotics and Advanced Manufacturing Technical Education Collaboration (RAMTEC) for the RAMTEC Vex Robotics Camp June 8 -10. During the 3-day camp they learned designing, building, programming and explored various Vex, Motoman, FANUC, Arduino and Nao robotics platforms.

 

Participants received intensive instruction in Robot C programming language, the engineering design cycle, Vex Virtual World Simulation software as well as the 2016 Vex “Nothing But Net” Drive, Programming and Team competitions.

Vex Summer website_3144The camp was sponsored by grants from the Honda Foundation, Yaskawa Robotics, Consolidated Electric, SME EF Prime and Ohio’s Straight A Grants.  These companies and organizations are promoting camps as a way to promote manufacturing careers that will help us overcome the estimated 2.0 million American Manufacturing Skills Gap. These partners have really stepped up their support of manufacturing and robotics career exploration by supporting Vex camps.

RAMTEC leader visits FANUC World Headquarters-Japan

Above: Tri-Rivers Superintendent Chuck Speelman  on the far right  with Rick Snyder FANUC President for North & South America and Dr. K Inaba The Tri-Rivers Career Center (TRCC) Superintendent Chuck Speelman visited the FANUC Robotics and CNC world headquarters in Tokyo, Japan last week to see some of the existing and new educational and industrial products FANUC has been developing.  Speelman was one of 50 partners world-wide invited to attend the event.

Fanuc Video highlights RAMTEC Training

FANUC America Corporation released a new YouTube video about RAMTEC’s certified robotics and CNC education program dedicated to helping create the next-generation workforce. RAMTEC, which stands for Robotics Advanced Manufacturing Technology Education Collaborative, uses FANUC industrial robots, CNCs and ROBODRILLs to technically train students for high-skilled careers.

The 2015 National Robotics Challenge http://thenrc.org/ is at the Marion County Fairgrounds Coliseum and Evers Area April 9-11, 2015. Marion County hosts this growing event where around 1200 students from nine states will participate in Robot Mazes, Mini-Sumo contests, Robo Hockey, Bot Ball, and more!
