Vex State Championships Big Success
The Vex State Championship Competition was quite a success this year in Marion, according to Ritch Ramey, Event Coordinator. More than 500 fans attended the event with 310 students involved in the action.
Forty-one high school and 18 middle school teams participated in the championships held at the OSUM-MTC George Alber Student Center in Marion, OH, Saturday February 21, 2015.
Area teams included: Elgin, Ridgedale, Tri-Rivers, Harding, Grant MS, North Union HS and MS , Cardington JH, Highland MS and River Valley.
Winners qualifying for the World Vex Competition in Louisville, KY in April include: Harding ( 2), River Valley, Grant (2), North Union HS and North Union MS (2), Logan Elm, Cleveland James Rhodes, Brecksville, Bellefontaine, Norwalk, Zanesville. At the Worlds 18,000 students and coaches from 800 world teams will attend.
Ramey said there were 45 coaches/mentors and 50 judges/staff volunteers, including: Holly Ramey, head scorekeeper; Rob Smith, high school head judge; Clay Hammock, middle school head judge; Terri Martin, middle school head scorekeeper; Kristi Matlack, head of skills matches; Mark Robinson, set-up; Brad Pottkotter, head of facilities and Larry Wood, head of awards judges.
