RAMTEC Vex Robotics Camp in Demand
RAMTEC Vex Robotics Camp
More than 100 7th -12th grade students will invade the Tri-Rivers Career Center’s Robotics and Advanced Manufacturing Technical Education Collaboration (RAMTEC) for our RAMTEC Vex Robotics Camp June 8 -10. The camp will be three days of designing, building, programming and student exploration of various Vex, Motoman, FANUC, Arduino and Nao robotics platforms.
Attendees will be given intensive instruction in Robot C programming language, the engineering design cycle, Vex Virtual World Simulation software as well as the 2016 Vex “Nothing But Net” Drive, Programming and Team competitions. The camp is sponsored by grants from the Honda Foundation, Yaskawa Robotics, Consolidated Electric, SME EF Prime and Ohio’s Straight A Grants.
These companies and organizations are promoting camps as a way to promote manufacturing careers that will help us overcome the estimated 2.0 million American Manufacturing Skills Gap. These partners have really stepped up their support of manufacturing and robotics career exploration by supporting our camps.
RAMTEC Ohio is a Partnership of 9 Ohio Career Centers
RAMTEC Ohio was awarded a $14,955,000 Straight A grant to created centers that will enable credentialed industrial training for students in grades 7-12. Our partners are Parker Hydraulics, Rockwell Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, FANUC Robotics, FANUC CNC and Yaskawa Robotics. There will also be RAMTEC Vex Robotics Camps this summer around Ohio at our partner sites. Portage Lakes, Penta, Tolles, Miami Valley, Pioneer and CTEC will host 3 days RAMTEC Vex Robotics Camps. Camps will also be hosted at Carrollton, Highland (Marengo) and Wright State Lake Campus. These camps enable students to become better equipped to make career choices in the high paying and high demand fields of robotics and manufacturing.
The RAMTEC Tri-Rivers Career Center is also developing Vex Q Robotics camp and a non-traditional robotics camp for students in grades 3rd -8th that will expand their knowledge of Arduino, MakeyMakey, Hummingbird and Wearable Electronics. We are doing as much as we can to enable students manufacturing career exploration at a younger age that will allow them to identify the traits and skills necessary to meet the future career needs of our dynamic manufacturing and robotic fields.
