Consolidated Electric Cooperative of Mount Gilead donated $5,000 to the Tri-Rivers’ RAMTEC Vex Robotics League, Friday, March 13, 2015.
“Consolidated Electric is excited about its donation to RAMTEC and to provide this amazing opportunity to the young people in Morrow County. Two of our core values are commitment to community and innovation, RAMTEC is a perfect fit!” said Pam Hawk, Vice President Marketing & HR for Consolidated.
“These funds will be used to develop new programs in Morrow County,” said Ritch Ramey, RAMTEC Coordinator. “Donations like this help to reach more young people and sustain Vex Robotics. I like to say that Vex robotics is where erector sets meets computers.”
“The VEX Robotics Design System offers students an exciting platform for learning about areas rich with career opportunities spanning science, technology, engineering and math (STEM. These are just a few of the many fields students can explore by creating with VEX Robotics technology,” explained Ramey. “Beyond science and engineering principles, a VEX Robotics project encourages teamwork, leadership and problem solving among groups. It also allows educators to easily customize projects to meet the level of students’ abilities. The VEX platform is expanding rapidly and is now found in middle schools, high schools and university labs around the globe.”
“My son is on his high school’s robotics team, said Joe Churilla, CFO for Consolidated Electric. “I saw first-hand how robotics programs help students develop important life skills by working together on challenging projects under tight deadlines with limited resources. I wanted to bring those same experiences to students in Morrow and Delaware Counties. Once we heard Tri-Rivers had a robotics program, we jumped at the opportunity to help.”
